"We’re all traveling through time, together, every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable life,” said Tim Lake from About Time - a film about a man gifted with the ability to time travel and relive a period of his life. If I were given such abilities, I would have also gone back in time to make small and big changes in my life. However, at the end of the movie, Tim learns a valuable lesson - to enjoy and cherish each day as if he had traveled back to it. Expressing gratitude to your friend, appreciating the beautiful clear sky, and showing generosity amidst the crowded subway are just a few easy steps to appreciate the life you are living and remind yourself to be thankful for it. With the start of a new decade, every one of our reporters dedicated their best effort to put this edition together. Although we are only three months into 2020, a variety of events have already made the global news headlines. The kickoff was Parasite , a remarkable film by Bong Joon-ho that won four awards at Oscar’s, hinting at the Academy Award’s evolving identity and start of something new.
The biggest obstacle to this edition was the spread of Coronavirus19. I never imagined having to edit our columns wearing masks and constantly using hand sanitizers. Despite the increasing severity of this case, I wish our country will recover from this crisis as soon as possible. Being my first publication as editor-in-chief, this edition holds a very special place in my heart. After the past two years of being part of Hanyang Journal and reading previous Echoes, it feels strange yet satisfying that I am writing the Echo instead of a column. Also, I am extremely grateful for all the reporters trying their best despite these rough times. None of us have the superpower to go back in time. So instead of pouring all your energy into the results, live each day to your fullest and happiest. That way, you can tell yourself that you had an ordinary yet special day when you lie down to sleep at night.
